The Jersey Cares Annual Coat Drive

Every fall, The Jersey Cares Coat Drive collects and distributes thousands of “gently used” winter coats to at-risk men, women, children and infants.  Over the past thirteen years, Jersey Cares has collected, sorted and distributed thousands of winter coats to New Jersey residents in need through this program. Companies, churches, police stations, schools and other organizations collect coats throughout the drive. Coats are then delivered by a collection site representative to a central location. Volunteers then sort the donated coats and bag them for pick-up. Agency recipients schedule their pick-up and distribute the coats to those in need. Learn More

Frosty's Friends

During the holiday season, Jersey Cares gives volunteers the opportunity to give back directly to a child in need through our annual gift-giving program.  Frosty’s Friends aims to spread holiday cheer to children in shelters or transitional housing facilities during the holiday season.  Volunteers may register as a group or individually and you'll receive a note from a child with their agency information and gift ideas. We also recruit volunteers to review the children's letters before they're distributed - check the Jersey Cares Project Calendar in November for dates and times.

MLK Day of Service

On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, volunteers have the opportunity to strengthen their community and bridge social barriers by participating in service projects throughout the state. Volunteers participate in various projects including mural painting, leading financial literacy workshops (curriculum provided), managing learning stations including "I Have a Dream" mobiles and peace bingo, organizing library books serving hot meals, spending time with seniors, painting planter murals and creating mobile gardens.

Jersey Cares Day

Jersey Cares Day is a day of true partnership and community building as people from all over New Jersey unite for the common goal of revitalizing and beautifying Newark, Jersey City, Plainfield and Union City communities. For the past eleven years, thousands of volunteers have traveled to schools, parks and nonprofit organizations to bring much needed help in projects like painting murals on classroom walls, planting gardens outside school entrances, organizing classroom libraries, landscaping and removing trash in community parks, painting lines for outdoor games on blank school parking lots, and so much more!

While Jersey Cares Day is a fun and rewarding way to help our neighbors in need, it's also a fundraiser to support all of the important work Jersey Cares does throughout the year. Like a walk-a-thon, Jersey Cares Day volunteers raise pledges for the time they are contributing, making the event an inspiring way to give back to the community and help that work continue all year round! If you'd like additional information about Jersey Cares Day, please contact jerseycaresday@jerseycares.org.
