What
types of community services will be provided on
Jersey Cares
Day?
Volunteers will perform much needed tasks such as painting
murals on classroom walls or in hallways, planting gardens
outside school entranceways, beautifying parks, painting
lines for various outdoor games on blank school parking
lots, organizing storage areas and libraries, leading
nutrition and financial literacy workshops and so much
more!
Who can
participate in the day?
Anyone over the age of 12 (volunteers
ages 12 to 17 must be accompanied by an adult and have a
waiver signed by their parent/guardian). Download
the waiver on our
website (upon registration), complete and bring on the day of
the event or send to the Jersey Cares office in advance.
What
happens if it rains?
Jersey
Cares Day goes on rain or shine! Each
project has a rain contingency plan—if we can't work
outdoors there will be additional inside tasks to be
completed. Please dress appropriately
for the weather!
How do I
register as a team?
A team is
a group of 5+ friends, family, co-workers or association
members who want to volunteer together.
Each team needs to pick a Team Leader who will coordinate
all the details for the team on and before Jersey Cares Day.
Team registration deadline is April 23rd.
What if
I'm not part of a team? Can I still
volunteer?
Yes! Register as
an Individual. Follow the onscreen
instructions. The deadline for
individual registration is
April 23rd.
Is there
a cost or fee to participate?
There is
no cost to participate, however, volunteers are asked to
make a $5 donation to help cover the costs of the event
(including t-shirt). Also, this is a serve-a-thon, and we
encourage all participants to fundraise. Funds raised above
$100 will be eligible for great prizes.
How does
it work?
Jersey
Cares Day is similar to a walk-a-thon. Volunteers are
encouraged to ask family, friends and co-workers to pledge
donations in honor of the service they do that day.
I'm
volunteering my time, why am I also being asked to raise
money?
Throughout the year, Jersey Cares creates meaningful
volunteer projects that meet critical community needs and
enable hundreds of willing people to give their time to help
others. Our work would not be possible without financial
support. The money raised during Jersey Cares Day supports
both the great activities of the day and our impactful year
round programming.
How do my
friends and family make a donation?
When you
register for Jersey Cares Day, you will automatically
generate your very own customizable webpage and a number of
easy to use tools which allow you to e-mail family, friends
and co-workers. The e-mails will provide a direct link to
your personalized Jersey Cares Day webpage where visitors
can learn more about the event, your participation and make
a donation. Alternatively, friends and family can
locate your webpage by simply clicking on the "Sponsor
Volunteer" button from our
event website
and entering your name.
