Marketplace in East Brunswick - Monthly Delivery Day

Once a month, the Crisis Room at Aldersgate Outreach Community Center receives a delivery of between 2-5 tons of food from the Community FoodBank of New Jersey. Volunteers are needed to move cases of food, 30-50 lbs. from the pallets to the shelves. indoor set-up and clean-up for the pantry. In addition, volunteers may be assigned to the thrift shop to sort donations, assist in sales and clean-up. Environment is generally fast-paced with some heavy lifting. Once a month, the Crisis Room at Aldersgate Outreach Community Center receives a delivery of between 2-5 tons of food from the Community FoodBank of New Jersey. Volunteers are needed to move cases of food from the pallets to the shelves.

Need-To-Know: Effective 11/7/23 Food Pantry and Thrift Shop are located in the lower level of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Park in the church parking lot and walk down the ramp located at the right side of the church. Follow the signs for entrance.

  • The second event for that day is to prepare the food bags for the state food distribution that occurs the same week.  The group prepare approximately 100 bags.

  • Modest clothing is recommended, no short tops or short shorts. Closed toes shoes are required.

  • Flexibility is a plus since tasks are contingent based on amount of food or donations that will be used during the day. Being flexible is a plus as tasks may change based on necessity.
     


  • Please note: The timing of this opportunity has been determined by Jersey Cares and Aldersdate Outreach Community Center based on the delivery window provided by the food supplier. There is potential the delivery may arrive before or after the opportunity begins resulting in a delayed program start or a shortened volunteer experience. Waivers: All projects have non-negotiable age restrictions that are noted on the upper right side of each project description. If you meet the age restriction but are under 18, please have a parent or legal guardian complete the required youth waiver and bring with you to the project. Adults attending the project can expedite the registration process by printing the adult waiver in advance, sign and bring with you.
