Winter Season of Service Orientation


Project Coordinator (Volunteer Leader) Description

Project Coordinators (PC's) are stewards and ambassadors of Jersey Cares and play a vital role in the upkeep of volunteer opportunities addressing critical community-identified needs. These community leaders provide organization and leadership to volunteers and partner agencies. They encourage others to "Be the Change" and provide the direction necessary to further develop community partnerships.

Responsibilities Include

  • Leading others in service to the community.

  • Learning about the partner agency and sharing with others.

  • Coordinating activities with Jersey Cares staff as well as volunteers.

  • Providing direction necessary to complete project activities onsite.

  • Working with Jersey Cares staff, other PC's, volunteers and partner agencies to further develop relationships and ensure success on future projects.

  • Maintaining volunteer information on Jersey Cares online database.


Requirements and Expectations

  • Demonstrate an ability to work in teams.

  • Strong organization and planning skills.

  • Access to the Internet on regular basis.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Participate in Jersey Cares Project Coordinator training.

  • Be tech savvy and know how to use the www.jerseycares.org website.

  • Attend Mid-Term and Closing Sessions.

  • Track all information on Jersey Cares administrative web portal.


Commitment

  • Ten weeks beginning December 14, 2019

  • Manage a minimum 10 volunteer opportunities by the end of February.

  • Participate in 1 of 7 in-person training sessions.

  • Attend Mid-Term Session on January 18, 2020

  • Attend Closing Session on February 21, 2020

  • If the current training dates, times and locations are not convenient please call us directly and we will accommodate to meet your need. We will always coordinate training locally near you. (973) 533-1993. Noted below are the steps to finding and completing the Project Coordinator Application. 

  • Create a volunteer profile at the Jersey Cares website. www.jerseycares.org 

  • Complete a Project Coordinator Application. Under the "My Account" section your Jersey Cares volunteer profile click the title "Project Coordinator Application" and once complete, click "submit" at the bottom of the page. If done correctly, you will be directed to a "Success" screen. Click here for a brief video of these steps.

  • Finally, register for one of the training dates and times noted below.

Waivers: All projects have non-negotiable age restrictions that are noted on the upper right side of each project description. If you meet the age restriction but are under 18, please have a parent or legal guardian complete the required youth waiver and bring with you to the project. Adults attending the project can expedite the registration process by printing the adult waiver in advance, sign and bring with you.
