Jersey Cares presents its annual September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance, a day of “unity, empathy and service as an enduring and positive tribute to those lost and injured.” On Saturday, September 11, 2021, in honor of the 20th anniversary, Jersey Cares volunteers will come together to strengthen a community deeply impacted by the events of September 11th, 2001. Join Jersey Cares and your neighbors as we dedicate a day of service to that which makes us great – each other.

VIRTUAL PROJECT OPTIONS 

Virtual Cards for First Responders

  • Appropriate for volunteers ages 4+
  • 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. on Zoom
  • Volunteers will create electronic cards including pictures and inspirational quotes to let First Responders know their work is noticed and greatly appreciated.

Virtual Thank You Video Creation for First Responders

  • Appropriate for volunteers ages 16+
  • 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. on Zoom
  • Volunteers will create personalized video recordings to thank First Responders across the state.

Virtual Bravery Award Kit Creation

  • Appropriate for volunteers ages 12+
  • 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. on Zoom
  • $30 Registration Fee
  • Jersey Cares will ship supplies to your home so you can participate in this activity.
  • Volunteers will create a memory jar, write a card, and decorate the kit in a patriotic theme to celebrate a child's bravery while their parent is overseas serving in the military.

Virtual First Responder Kit Creation

  • Appropriate for volunteers ages 12+
  • 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. on Zoom
  • $30 Registration Fee
  • Jersey Cares will ship supplies to your home so you can participate in this activity.
  • Volunteers will write personalized cards for firefighters, police officers, and EMTs to show our appreciation for the incredible work and sacrifice they bring to their jobs.

IN-PERSON PROJECT OPTIONS

You Matter Kit Creation Presented by UPS

  • Appropriate for volunteers ages 4+
  • 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. at the Jersey Cares Office in Livingston
  • Volunteers will support students' mental health by providing them with coping resources, an inspiration jar, breathing exercise card, and heartwarming letter. Completed kits will be donated to a Jersey City school whose diverse population was directly affected by the events of September 11th.

Care of the Park

  • Appropriate for volunteers ages 12+
  • 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Branch Brook Park in Newark
  • Volunteers are needed to support the Care of the Park team in a variety of projects including one or all of the following: to prune, groom, rake, cultivate, water, remove invasive species, plant installations, create and maintain restoration projects, maintain portions of the historic Lenape trail and general debris removal.
