I signed up to answer letters to Frosty. When will I receive my letters?
You will receive an email with next steps and instructions after registering. Letters will begin being distributed on November 1st in the order requests were received.
Gifts are due at your nonprofit partner's location by Friday, December 10th, 2021. If you are mailing your gifts, please keep in mind that you will need you mail your gifts well in advance and send it with a tracking number so you can ensure it arrives on time. Please do not send any gifts to the Jersey Cares office!
Yes! If you choose to ship your gift via Amazon or from another website, please elect to have it wrapped and include a note with the name of the child for whom the gift was purchased.
Each of your letters has a label with an address and agency contact. This address is where you will send your gifts. Please label your gift with the child's name and tracking number as indicated at the top of the letter.
Can I ship gifts to the nonprofit partner via Amazon Prime?
Yes! If you do, please elect to have it wrapped, and include a note with the tracking code and name of the child for whom the gift was purchased. Please do not use our Amazon Wish List to purchase gifts for your letters, as this is a separate way to contribute to the program.
What is the Jersey Cares Amazon Wish List used for?
Jersey Cares creates an Amazon Wish List for people who are looking for other ways besides answering letters to purchase gifts for kids. These are the only gifts that are sent to our office, where they are wrapped by volunteers, and distributed to children who did not have a Frosty.
Can I drop my gifts off to my child directly?
Unfortunately we cannot give out the children's addresses. Please send all gifts to the nonprofit partner at the address on your letter. There is also a phone number provided so that you can coordinate with the agency contact in case you want to bring the gift yourself. Most of the time, our partners wait until their holiday party to distribute gifts to children, so volunteers do not typically meet the children they are serving.
My child requested an expensive item. Can I buy them something that they did not request in their letter?
We ask our nonprofit partners to encourage kids to ask for reasonable items, but kids will be kids and sometimes get excited. Please do not feel obligated to purchase an expensive item. We recommend committing to spending between $25-40 per gift as most children will open the gifts together and would be upset to see someone opening an expensive gift alongside gifts in the price range. We have provided a list of suggested gifts by age to give you some ideas. Feel free to purchase gifts at your disgression as long as it falls within the price range!
Why is my letter just a drawing?
Some of our children are quite young and do not yet know how to write. Others may have a disability which also prevents them from being able to write a letter. For these kids, we tell our nonprofit partners that they are welcome to draw a picture and have a parent, teacher, or leader write down their gift request.
When is the last day I can sign up to receive letters?
Registration to answer letters will be open until all letters are filled.
Can I request more letters later, and will they be from the same nonprofit partner?
You can always request more letters; however, we are unable to guarantee that they will be from the same nonprofit partner, as we give out letters in the order we receive them from our nonprofit partners.
How many letters can I request?
You can request as many letters as you or your team would like! Please remember that each letter comes with a $25-$40 commitment and to only request the number of letters you are confident you can commit to answering. In the event you request too many letters, our distribution process gets interrupted and may jeopordize those children having their holiday wish granted. Please start off small and you can always request more later.
Can I request letters based on gender, age, or location?
Unfortunately, we do not take specific requests from volunteers based on the gender, age, or location of the children. We give out letters in the order they are received from our nonprofit partners. We work with 501c3 nonprofits across the state, including schools, shelters, child development centers, and after-school programs. For many of our Frosty's kids, your gift may be the only gift they receive for the holidays this year so we appreciate your flexibility.
How can I contribute to Frosty's Friends besides answering letters?
We have many other ways to get involved with the Frosty's Friends Program! You can:
- Donate Gifts on Our Amazon Wish List: Each year, we create an Amazon Wish List for volunteers would like to purchase gifts online for some of the children that we serve. These are shipped to the Jersey Cares office, wrapped by volunteers, and are distributed to children who do not have a Frosty this year.
- Make a Donation: Frosty's Friends is an enormous undertaking and requires financial support to create its tremendous impact. Sponsors receive multiple benefits. Can I register my agency to receive gifts from the Frosty's Friends program?
If you are a 501c3 nonprofit and would like to submit Frosty's Friends letters from your the children that you serve, please email Meagan Mulligan at meagan@jerseycares.org to be added to our wait list.
