Care of the Park in 🌳 Branch Brook Park

Be a part of history by volunteering at Essex County Branch Brook Park, the first county park system open to the public in the United States. This local treasure needs your help! Volunteers work alongside experienced members of the Branch Brook Park Alliance team to support weekly-changing projects, which may include:

  • Pruning, grooming, raking, cultivating, watering, and weeding
  • Removing invasive plant species
  • Assisting with restoration projects
  • Maintaining sections of the historic Lenape Trail
  • Removing general debris

Important Information:

  • Registration Deadline: Volunteers must register at least 48 hours before the event. Late registrations are prohibited, but we invite you to sign up for future dates.
 
  • Group Size: Teams of up to 50 people are welcome. Each group should appoint a Team Captain to help motivate and manage the team. Please use real names when registering. A tutorial on creating a team is available (click here) Please note that a team created with fictitious names will be deleted and the account creator will be deactivated. 

What to Bring:

  • Sunscreen and hats for sun protection
  • Work gloves (we have a limited supply of freshly cleaned gloves available)
  • Closed-toed shoes for safety
  • Water for you and your group
  • Bug repellent (optional)
  • Wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty or damaged, as this is a hands-on, labor-intensive opportunity.

Weather Considerations: This is a rain-or-shine event. In case of severe weather, the project may be canceled, and updates will be sent via email.

After registering, you will receive an automated email with the meeting location and further details. Please note, only registered participants will be allowed to attend.
