Peacocks, 'Pacas, Pigs in Sussex County

Have you ever had a turkey sit in your lap and beg you to pet it till it fell asleep? Or, had a goat ask you to scratch its ear? Well, now you can. Fill your heart at Patchwork Pastures Animal Sanctuary, home to over 100 farm animals including emus, llamas, alpacas, pigs, goats, and more!  


Join us on our journey as we work diligently to build a forever home for unwanted or abused farm animals who will be loved and cared for by individuals in substance abuse recovery- an amazing two-fold recovery program! Opportunities exist in the following fields: construction, animal care, horticulture, arboriculture, landscape and design, and more.
 


NEED-TO-KNOW:

  • Snacks and water provided.

  • All parking is in the field entrance on Lewisburg Rd. across from the cows fence. Please do not park on the main drive.

  • Volunteers will receive a brief orientation upon arrival.

  • Volunteers should wear clothes they feel comfortable getting dirty and working in. Work boots and work gloves are necessary.

  • Bug spray and sunscreen are recommended based on the weather.

  • Volunteers assume the risk of working with live animals. Please take caution.

  • We cannot accommodate volunteers when temperatures rise above 90 degrees or below 35 degrees. Volunteers will be notified ASAP of cancellations due to: high temperatures; below freezing temperatures; and inclement weather such as heavy rain, snow, sleet, or icy conditions. Expect to volunteer unless otherwise stated. 

Volunteer Guidelines: COVID-19

  • Please follow masking guidelines as set by federal, state, and local governments. Individual organizations may still require masks to be worn.  

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands

  • Clean and wash your hands before, during, and after volunteering for a minimum of 20 seconds. 

  • If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

Waivers: All projects have non-negotiable age restrictions that are noted on the upper right side of each project description. If you meet the age restriction but are under 18, please have a parent or legal guardian complete the required youth waiver and bring with you to the project. Adults attending the project can expedite the registration process by printing the adult waiver in advance, sign and bring with you.
