Opportunity Details

Marketplace in Atlantic City

Think clearly and write with clarity is our battle cry, our tagline, our mantra. Not everyone — as is so strikingly apparent of late — thinks clearly. And even fewer people express themselves with clarity. But for those who nail both clarity of thought and expression, a lifetime of Mightiness is available for the taking. We're believers in the power of writing. But when COVID-19 began to strangle our Mighty communities, our mission suddenly needed amending. You can't think or write with clarity if you're hungry.

Mighty Writers serves Atlantic County families and individuals in need by providing them with supplementary groceries every week. Volunteers are needed to unload food donation trucks, organizing tables, sorting and distribution of food, assisting guests with food choices, outdoor or indoor set-up and clean-up.

Need-To-Know:

  • Hobart Avenue is outdoors, dress appropriate for the weather. Stanley Homes Community Center is indoors.

  • Volunteers will receive a brief orientation and assignment upon arrival. This project involves some heavy lifting. Volunteers must wear closed-toed shoes, clothes comfortable to work in, work gloves are optional.

  • Flexibility is a plus since tasks are contingent upon weather and amount of food or donations that will be used during the day.

 Volunteer Guidelines: COVID-19

  • Please follow masking guidelines as set by federal, state, and local governments. Individual organizations may still require masks to be worn.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands

  • Clean and wash your hands before, during, and after volunteering for a minimum of 20 seconds.

  • If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
