Marketplace In Irvington

At the Helping Hands Food Pantry they strive to provide food, resources and hope to members of the community who are in need of assistance. Volunteer on the set-up and/or distribution day to help give food to those who need it.

NEED-TO-KNOW

  • ​Set-up Day: On Fridays, volunteers set up distribution stations (place food items on tables) and breakdown empty boxes. They will also be tasked with bring items inside from the trailer as needed.

  • ​ Distribution Day: On Saturdays, volunteers will need to set up distribution stations(place food items on tables) and place frozen items in cooler bags/bins. They will put any leftover items back on shelves / in storage areas. Throughout out the shift volunteers will distribute food to the community, assist community with food /help carry items and breakdown empty boxes.

  • ​Wear comfortable clothes ( jeans, t-shirt, sweat suit, sneakers, and closed toe shoes ). Also, this project involves a some heavy lifting - Volunteers may be asked to carry items up and down stairs

  • ​There is a parking lot in the rear of the church. Volunteers will be directed to park in designated spaces upon arrival. If no one is in the lot, please ring the door bell.

Your willingness to serve with a bright smile and a sense of humor is what makes volunteering all the more easier.

Waivers: All projects have non-negotiable age restrictions that are noted on the upper right side of each project description. If you meet the age restriction but are under 18, please have a parent or legal guardian complete the required youth waiver and bring with you to the project. Adults attending the project can expedite the registration process by printing the adult waiver in advance, sign and bring with you.
