Earth Keepers in Newark

Conceived as an embodiment of the emerging ideals of the Rural Cemetery Movement, Mount Pleasant was planned as a picturesque landscape garden. Mount Pleasant is Newark's oldest cemetery hosting significant historical figures. Volunteers are needed to do some light pruning and floating debris pick-up along the perimeter of the grounds that faces the community.

Need-To-Know:

  • Volunteers will receive a brief orientation upon arrival. Bring your own water and nonrefrigerated snacks, if desired.

  • Volunteers should dress for the weather since activities are outdoors. Closed toed shoes are required.

  • Tools are provided. You may bring your own work gloves.

  • We work in light rain or shine. If the workday will be cancelled we will notify registered volunteers ASAP.
