TEAM Charter Schools

TEAM Academy is a public charter school in Newark, New Jersey.  Founded in September, 2002, it has grown from 80 fifth grade students to over 360 students in grades 5-8 in the last three years.  TEAM, like all charter schools, selects its students by lottery.  As a result, the student population closely parallels the demographics and academic preparedness of students in neighboring schools. TEAM Academy is a KIPP (Knowledge Is Power Program) School. KIPP is a national non-profit organization that selects, trains, and supports outstanding educators to open and run high-performing public schools, which have quickly attained remarkable results in cities across the nation.
