The Queen City Academy Charter School

About Us The Queen City Academy Charter School was chartered by the State of New Jersey in 1999. After a planning year, the school opened September 6, 2000 with seventy-two students in newly renovated facilities at 7-9 Watchung Avenue in Plainfield, New Jersey. The founders, two remaining active on the Board of Trustees, created a school where small class sizes and a caring and nurturing atmosphere allowed students to acquire more knowledge than it was commonly assumed they were capable of achieving. The school is now housed at 815 West 7th Street with a total of 234 students, Grades K-8. QCA has grown not only in size, but in initiative. Along with core subjects of Math, Science, Language Arts, and Social Studies, QCA offers Spanish, Music, Art, Technology, Dance, Physical Education and Health. QCA prides itself on the achievements of its students through the Positive Referral Program as well as Battle of the Homerooms. Our students are not only educated but nurtured to become independent thinkers through the H.O.P.E. (Helping Other People Everywhere) Club, Chess Club, Student Council, and QCA Crier (the school's newspaper)
