Organization Profile

Habitat for Humanity of Monmouth County

Habitat for Humanity of Monmouth County is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization operated on Christian principles that seeks to put God's love into action by building homes, communities and hope. We started in 1993 as an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a Christian based Ecumenical organization that seeks to eliminate substandard housing worldwide. For over two decades, Habitat for Humanity of Monmouth County is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions. Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, durable place to live in dignity and safety, and that decent shelter in decent communities should be a matter of conscience and action for all. Their service area stretches from Raritan Bay on the north to Ocean Township on the south, and from the Garden State Parkway to the Atlantic Ocean. Our affiliate raises funds and draws volunteers from the entire service area. Based on data published by the NJ Department of Community Affairs (as of March 15, 2013) 75% of damage to primary residences in Monmouth County occurred within our Northeast Monmouth County Service area.
