Lights On in Newark

Connect with the human spirit and jump into the fun at the same time. You can uplift and enrich a young person's life through the art of conversation, interaction, informal mentoring, and more. A school in Newark's west ward provides Lights On, a program that keeps students engaged in activities so they are safe and off the streets.
Lights On appeals to a variety of student interests including arts, sports, music, video/board games and other exciting opportunities. Volunteers are needed to work with the students and help guide the myriad of activities that exist. At the core of this experience, however, is to join in on the fun!
Some Activities Include

  • Youth Check-In & Registration

  • Meal Service (preparing and serving)

  • Donation Management (unpacking and sorting)

  • Game Time - checkers, chess, Jenga, Boggle, easel games, x-box, foosball. etc.

  • Sports / Physical Fitness - basketball, yoga, etc.

  • Beauty / Fashion - henna, make-up artistry, clothing design.
