Farm to Table in Newark

Join us outside to plant and harvest vegetables in the community garden or join us inside to prepare and serve hot meals to our neighbors in Newark. Volunteers will be asked to assist in setup, cleanup, planting, meal service, harvesting and meal preparation. Vineyard Baptist Church is a pillar of the Newark community, come help them make a difference.
 
Each day is focused on but not limited to:

• Farming Day- working outside in the garden.

• Delivery Day- helping unload, sort, organize, shelve food for the food pantry.

• Distribution Day- greeting and walking community members through the food pantry.


NEED-TO-KNOW:

• Dress code: No spaghetti strap tank tops. Shorts must be at a reasonable length.

• Please ring doorbell upon arrival as a staff member will greet you.

• Volunteers will receive a brief orientation upon arrival.

• Volunteers should wear clothes they feel comfortable getting dirty and working in. Sneakers and boots are strongly recommended.

• Bug spray and sunscreen are recommended based on the weather.

• Volunteers should be both patient and flexible in each task.

• Street parking is available. 

• Please try your hardest to volunteer and be active for the entire shift.

Waivers: All projects have non-negotiable age restrictions that are noted on the upper right side of each project description. If you meet the age restriction but are under 18, please have a parent or legal guardian complete the required youth waiver and bring with you to the project. Adults attending the project can expedite the registration process by printing the adult waiver in advance, sign and bring with you.
