Marketplace in Newark (Grace Church)

The Grace Church Food Pantry’s mission is to feed the hungry and extend caring hands to it's neighbors in need. They have been distributing grocery bags every Saturday morning for the last 3 years or so. Right now, they are able to distribute many bags every Saturday. Grace Church also hopes to make even more bags, including more low-prep bags and toiletry kits. The church has been in Newark since the early 19th century and we look forward to many more years of loving and serving our community and one another.

NEED-TO-KNOW

• ​Some food is stored in our basement. Volunteers have the option of helping move some heavy boxes and other light things up 2 flights of stairs, but the staff and hired movers take care of most of this ahead of time. All the cans needed for distribution are stored in a closet on the ground floor and just need to be carried to a room directly across the hall

• ​Wear comfortable clothes & close toed shoes if you plan to lift anything. Bring water!

• ​ Volunteers will set up table for bagging, make grocery bags & distribute from front doors

• ​ Volunteers will make low-prep bags & toiletry kits. They will also organize food and supplies storage spaces

Waivers: All projects have non-negotiable age restrictions that are noted on the upper right side of each project description. If you meet the age restriction but are under 18, please have a parent or legal guardian complete the required youth waiver and bring with you to the project. Adults attending the project can expedite the registration process by printing the adult waiver in advance, sign and bring with you.
