Earth Day in Jersey City (Liberty State Park)

oin the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) this Earth Day to make a positive environmental impact by participating in a cleanup event at Liberty State Park. Help preserve one of New Jersey’s most iconic parks and contribute to a cleaner, greener future!

NEED-TO-KNOW

• ​Please park in Lot 7 parking lot and look for the Liberty State Park Volunteer Coordinator in a parks uniform for sign-in and instructions.

• ​ Volunteers will help clean and collect garbage in the North Cove section of the park. Volunteers can expect to be on your feet for extended periods, with light to moderate lifting (e.g., carrying litter bags). The terrain is rocky, so caution is advised.

• ​Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes or hiking boots, long pants, and long sleeves. Volunteers can bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a reusable water bottle.

• Be mindful of wildlife and avoid disturbing natural habitats. If sharp objects or hazardous materials are found, inform an event leader. In case of rain, the event will move to the Central Railroad of New Jersey Terminal for DEP’s Earth Day event.

Your willingness to serve with a bright smile and a sense of humor is what makes volunteering all the more easier.

Waivers: All projects have non-negotiable age restrictions that are noted on the upper right side of each project description. If you meet the age restriction but are under 18, please have a parent or legal guardian complete the required youth waiver and bring with you to the project. Adults attending the project can expedite the registration process by printing the adult waiver in advance, sign and bring with you.
