Marketplace in Newark (House of Love)

House of Love's food pantry, of the Church of God and Saints of Christ, distributes 5-7,000 pounds of food to the community. Volunteers are needed for sorting and distribution of food, assisting guests with food choices, and clean-up for the pantry. Volunteers should feel comfortable engaging with people of all walks of life looking for a bright moment in their day.

Need-To-Know:

  • Volunteers will receive a brief orientation and assignment to pantry.

  • Volunteers should dress for the weather since activities are outdoors. Modest clothing is recommended, no short tops or short shorts. Closed toes shoes are required .

  • Flexibility is a plus since tasks are contingent upon weather and amount of food or donations that will be used during the day.

  • Ability to lift and move potentially heavy boxes (20-40 lbs) of food.

  • Please note: The timing of this opportunity has been determined by Jersey Cares and House of Love Soup Kitchen based on the delivery window provided by the food supplier. We thank you for your patience and understanding.
