Organization Profile

International Institute of New Jersey

We help immigrants and refugees build new lives in the United States. While their origins, complexions and native languages of today’s newcomers may differ from those of their predecessors, they face challenges that are as compelling as ever. We help them overcome these challenges and become productive members of American society. We work to ensure their fair and equitable treatment. We strive to enhance public awareness of their contributions to America’s social, economic and cultural development. In so doing, we strengthen the multi-cultural fabric of New Jersey. The International Institute of New Jersey is the oldest immigrant service agency in the state. Since 1918, it has been a gateway for resettling hundreds of thousands of immigrants, first as a YWCA program and then as an independent non-profit agency since 1938
